Give the videos below a watch to get a feel for how the HELLA HANGERS Skateboard Deck Hanger and Spin Mount work. Scroll down for detailed instructions.
Deck Hanger Instructions
Since using a screw is common knowledge, the instructions below are for using adhesive strips. Refer to industry-standard guidelines for safe screw mounting practices, as we do not provide detailed instructions for that. Note that a 1/4 inch drill bit is required to install our provided screw plug/anchor.
Purchase 3M Command XL Picture Hanging Strips if you prefer damage-free hanging and for the ability to adjust the position of your hanger without having to make additional holes in your wall. HELLA HANGERS Deck Hangers have been designed to work with 3M Command XL Picture Hanging Strips. However, HELLA HANGERS is not affiliated, endorsed, licensed, or approved by 3M or Command brands in any way.
STEP 1: Assemble hanger as shown in the above assembly drawing and Quick Install video.
STEP 2: Attach 2 pairs of 3M Command XL Picture Hanging Strips to the back of the hanger base.
STEP 3: Stick the hanger to the wall by following all of Command’s instructions, found on their website. Their instructions include but are not limited to first cleaning the wall with rubbing alcohol (do not use household cleaners or water), pressing the strips firmly against the wall for 30 seconds, and then letting it bond for an hour before hanging.
STEP 4: Hang your skateboard deck by inserting the Deck Hanger support pins through the bolt holes of the deck.
STEP 5: Install the O-rings into the manufactured grooves on the ends of the support pins (you can choose between the provided transparent or black O-rings, whichever looks best with your deck graphic).
STEP 6 (optional HELLA HOOK): Insert HELLA HOOK drywall hook through the top most nail sized hole in the hanger base and through the drywall. HELLA HOOK sold separately. As with inserting a screw into your wall, refer to industry-standard guidelines for safe dry wall hook installation practices. HELLA HOOK can be used in addition to adhesive strips if desired. HELLA HOOK not needed if screws are used for mounting.
REPEAT (if required): 2 Deck Hangers are needed to hang a deck horizontal. 2 Deck Hangers, with only 1 support pin inserted per hanger, are required to hang a deck at other angles, such as a 45 degree angle.
Adjust Positioning (if required): Adjust in any direction using interlocking strips (Command or Dual Lock etc.). If using a screw, adjust in one direction, either up/down or left/right depending on which oval screw hole is used. For example, if you are wanting to perfectly level a deck that you hung horizontally, you should use the oval screw holes in the up/down direction. If you are trying to perfectly hang a series of decks touching side by side, you should use the oval screw holes in the left/right direction.
Notes: -Do not use tools to insert support pins into hanger base. Once you have partially placed the support pins in the base with your hands, you must push hard against a flat surface, like shown in the above Quick Install video. If the support pins didn’t snap all the way in, find a place of leverage, and again push against the back of the support pin to fully push it into place. -To remove the HELLA HOOK, grab the top of the hanger (near where the hook is inserted) and pull straight out from the wall. This will partially remove the hook. Grab the hook and twist the rest out. -Adhesive strips must be used in accordance with the strip brand’s instructions as to not be placed in a position or environment that would negatively impact the integrity of the adhesive or the connections. Per Command’s instruction, make sure the strips that are on the wall are separated into single strips first, as they usually come connected in pairs in the packaging. If the paired strips aren’t separated into single strips, they will be difficult to stretch and release from the wall in the intended damage-free way. However, after separating the strips, place them so that they are touching side-by-side on the hanger base and wall to allow for greater support when repositioning. Use your best judgement when adjusting the positioning of the strips. If you have adjusted so far in a direction that barely any of the surface area of the strips are connected, the strips may not be able to hold the weight of your skateboard and additional strips will need to be put on the wall. If you have issues with your adhesive strips, please reach out to the brand of the adhesive strips you are using for assistance.
Spin Mount Instructions
Since using a screw is common knowledge, the instructions below are for using adhesive strips. Refer to industry-standard guidelines for safe screw mounting practices, as we do not provide detailed instructions for that. Note that a 1/4 inch drill bit is required to install our provided screw plug/anchor.
Purchase 3M Command XL Picture Hanging Strips if you prefer damage-free hanging and for the ability to adjust the position of your hanger without having to make additional holes in your wall. HELLA HANGERS Spin Mounts have been designed to work with 3M Command XL Picture Hanging Strips. However, HELLA HANGERS is not affiliated, endorsed, licensed, or approved by 3M or Command brands in any way.
STEP 1: Assemble mount as shown in the above assembly drawing and Quick Install video.
STEP 2: Attach 2 pairs of 3M Command XL Picture Hanging Strips to the back of the Spin Mount base.
STEP 4: Open the Spin Mount grip, insert your skateboard and spin and tilt to desired orientation.
STEP 5 (optional Tilt Lock): Insert provided fixed-length tilt lock if desired/needed. The tilt lock dimensions are slightly larger than the holes it is inserted into so it must be squeezed/pinched to be lined up properly and installed. In some instances, the tilt lock needs to be squeezed hard enough to where it is bent and can fit in the receiving holes. The provided optional fixed-length tilt lock has to be installed last during assembly or you won’t be able to get the collet nut on. The Quick Install video shows it inserted in a partially assembled Spin Mount for clarity.
All Spin Mounts come with a fixed-length tilt lock, which works best for hanging decks and some complete skateboards. Additionally, we offer an adjustable-length tilt lock which allows you to hang heavier skateboard completes parallel to the wall or at other desired tilt angles. To install the adjustable-length tilt lock, you must first stick the provided metal plate onto the hanger base, just under the ball adapter. You can then magnetically connect the adjustable-length tilt lock to the metal plate/hanger base. Use the screw functionality of the adjustable-length tilt lock to extend it to the desired length.
Adjust Positioning (if required): Adjust in any direction using interlocking strips (Command or Dual Lock etc.).
Notes: -The 17mm ball adapter typically comes pre assembled to the base. This is a snap fit connection and the ball adapter is not permanently fixed to the base. Make sure the ball adapter is fully inserted before hanging your skateboard and after making positioning adjustments. The ball adapter will only work if it is in the correct orientation on the wall. The correct orientation is when the long dimension of the ball adapter is running left and right (“HELLA HANGERS” embossed logo text on the base is positioned at the top). -The tilt lock may not work with heavier completes. -To remove HELLA HOOK, grab the hanger near where the hook is inserted and pull straight out from the wall. This will partially remove the hook. Grab the hook and twist the rest out. -We do not recommend using adhesive strips when hanging completes.
